Man dies in Belmopan from gunshot wounds

Elroy Ramirez, 30, became the country’s latest casualty on Thursday night when he died of gunshot wounds in the Western Regional Hospital, Belmopan.

Police say Ramirez, a caretaker of Young Bank Road, Camalote Village, was standing beside a pickup truck inside a yard in the Another World Area of Roaring Creek Village at around 8:30 p.m., when the gunman approached the fenced yard and shot Ramirez in the chest. He died two hours later.

Police have not yet made any arrests.
