A fatal traffic accident on the Western Highway last week Friday night claimed the life of Maria Wright, 52, resident of a nearby village.
Police have served Jorge Luis Romero, a taxi driver of Belmopan, with a notice of intended prosecution in connection with the incident.
Police say that Romero’s white 1991 Toyota Previa, which showed extensive damage to the entire front end, struck the woman as she ran across the highway.
She suffered severe injuries to her head and face and was pronounce dead less than two hours later at the Western Regional Hospital.
At the time of the accident, Romero was travelling from San Ignacio to Belmopan.
