A business in Hopkins Village, was destroyed by fire on Saturday night, and fire officials are investigating whether or not its cause was the work of an arsonist.
The business, Little Richard’s Pizzaria, located on the lower flat of the two storey uilding on Main Street, was owned and operated by Joy Nuñez.
She told authorities that when she realised what was happening, it was too late. She was heading out of the burning building when she remembered her passport inside.
Eyewitnesses reported smelling rubber burning and recalled that the smoke was black, and dense and coming from a location on the lower flat, where later they discovered someone had placed a car tyre and set it ablaze.
The loss from the business is estimated at around $50,000. The upper flat did not suffer as much damage as the lower flat.
Fire officials are investigating to determine whether or not the fire was deliberately set.
