Robert Acosta, 88, an elderly man who lives alone on Hyde’s Lane in Belize City, was released this week from the hospital after he was attacked and stabbed inside his home early Saturday morning.
Acosta was asleep between the hours of 4:00 and 6:30 a.m. on Saturday when a loud noise inside his house awoke him. He got up to see what it was and encountered a dark complexioned man who stabbed him five times in the throat and shoulder before fleeing the scene.
The Reporter spoke with Acosta’s neighbors who say they did not hear anyone breaking into the upper flat of the two story wooden house, which had been breached at a window in the front.
The thief left in such haste after he stabbed Acosta, that he did not take anything from the home. Acosta did not recognize his attacker and doesn’t know why his house was targeted.
Police have no suspects for this incident and are investigating.
