An elderly man was brutally beaten to death and then dumped in the Haulover Creek where his body was later discovered during the early hours of Sunday.
Sixty-five year oldMichael Cain, was reportedly associating with several others at Village Kitchen on North Front Street, when he was attacked at the back of the restaurant near the river’s edge.
Three men attacked him and dumped his body into the river, reliable reports say. His body was later recovered from the area behind Spoonaz Cafe around 5:30 a.m. on Sunday.
According to Police Supertintendent Hilberto Romero, OC, CIB Eastern Division, Cain was found with several injuries to the forehead and the jaw. He had a bruise over one eye. He was pronounced dead when his body reached the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH).
Romero said police do not have much information on the matter, butwere treating the death as murder. No one has been detained, and police have no suspects in the case.
Cain’s family, however, believe that robbery was the motive behind Michael’s death. According to his brother Frank, Michael liked to socialize with people of that area, but never had any problems with anyone.
