Drivers escape unhurt while 4 passengers are injured in accident

A head on collision in Orange Walk on Monday night involving a pickup truck and a Ford Escape has resulted in various degrees of injuries to four passengers, while the drivers of both vehicles were able to escape unhurt.

The accident reportedly unfolded around 9:05 p.m. on Monday on the Belize Road near the Project Hope building. According to police, 78-year-old Apolino Pacheco was driving his pickup truck from a south to north direction when 21-year-old Pedrito Ku who was heading in the opposite direction drove into his lane resulting in the head on colission.
As a result of the impact, passengers Amid Gomez and 16-year-old Rowel Cruz received varying degrees of injuries and were rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Additionally two other passengers namely Rigoberto Juchim and Gian Juchim were transported to the Northern Regional Hospital for treatment, Rigoberto is hospitalized while Gian was treated and released.
Police reported that blood samples were obtained from both drivers as part of the ongoing investigations.
