The police are seeking the assistance of the public in identifying an unknown man who was badly beaten on Wednesday in San Ignacio and later died in Belize City.
According to police, the man who was first found unconscious in San Ignacio’s Welcome Center, had been taken to the San Ignacio Community Hospital on April 4th. He was then transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) for further treatment and examination, but ultimately died as a result of head trauma.
When found, he was dressed in blue jeans short pants and a beige t-shirt. He didn’t have any footwear on him and police weren’t able to find any form of identification to indicate who the person was.
The “John Doe” is described as a Mestizo man of medium build, approximately 5 foot 6 inches in height, weighing some 160 pounds, with low cut, straight black hair.
No one has come forward to report a missing relative fitting the description of the unknown man and police are currently awaiting the final results of the post-mortem conducted on the victim. The body is currently at the Belize City morgue and any relative or friend of the victim is encouraged to contact the nearest police station as soon as possible.
