Dangriga police seek missing children

Missing kidsDangriga Police are looking for Juan Jovel, the 70-year-old Honduran grandfather of Fanny Romero, 9, and her brother Jairo Romero, 8, who went missing from their home in Cow Pen Village, Stann Creek district last Wednesday, July 17.

Their father, Felix Romero, said he fears Jovel, a deportee from the United States, may be trying to take the children  to the U.S., where he had lived for two years with a wife with whom he had two children. Romero fears for his children’s safety as there are unscrupulous persons who would sell a child for thousands of dollars.

Romero said his children had gone over to a neighbor’s house two blocks away to watch television while their mother prepared their breakfast. When they sent another child over to the neighbor’s to call the children home to have breakfast, the neighbor then told them that the children had left with a strange woman who was not from Cow Pen.

Romero later learnt  Jovel was with the children when they arrived in Silk Grass Village Wednesday where spent the night and left Thursday morning. Anyone with information is asked to call 624-4051 or the nearest police station.
