Chinese businessman robbed of $38,000 cash

San Ignacio police have three suspects detained for questioning in relation to an armed robbery of a Chinese businessman that occurred early Monday morning in that jurisdiction.

 

Wei Bin Chen, the 60-year-old proprietor of Chen’s Supermarket was robbed of $38,000 in cash at around 8:10 a.m. on May 15.

 

Chen told police that he was leaving his home at an Eduardo Juan Street address and had gotten out of his car to open the gate to his yard when he was unexpectedly ambushed by two men on bicycles.

 

One of the men reportedly took out a handgun and whipped Chen to the left side of his face before taking away a brown bag containing the cash.

 

Police investigations continue.
