Corozal police are relying on the residents of San Victor Village in Corozal to help them solve the murder of Sergio Martinez, a cane cutter from the Mexican State of Quintana Roo. His body was discovered on Sunday afternoon, March 1.

The police report that Martinez was found around 1:30 p.m. on Sunday inside a thatched hut, where he stayed whileemployed as a cane cutter.
Martinez died of multiple chop wounds to his face, chest, neck and head.
Corozal police don’t have a motive to explain why Martinez was killed or who committed this brutal act.

They are asking Martinez’ neighbours to call or visit the nearest police station if they saw or heard anything strange between Saturday night and Sunday afternoon when the body was found.
Martinez was last seen alive at a shop in the village on Saturday night.
