Boys 18, 16 and 14 yrs.charged with trying to kill teenage girl

Three boys, aged 18, 16 and 14 respectively have been arrested and charged with  shooting at a teenage girl on LaCroix Boulevard in southside Belize City last Thursday evening.

All three have been charged with attempted murder.

The boys, who were mounted on bicycles, missed their target, but one of the bullets from their guns hit  14 year old Desiree Aranda as she sat eating at a table in her home.

Several bullets from the barrage hit  the Aranda home on Cumberbatch Street, crashing through windows and the walls of the wooden house.     But one bullet  hit Desiree  in her lower back. Surgeons at the Karl Heusner were able to extract the bullet and save her life.

Last  Monday,18 year old  Adrian Alvarez,  along with two under-aged  boys  16 and 14 respectively,  were taken to court and formally charged with conspircy to commit murder before Magistrate Aretha Ford. All three  have been  remanded into custody until their next court appearance on October 10.

In the Family Court, the 16 year-old boy was charged with two counts of attempted murder, one count of aggravated assault, one count of dangerous harm, and one count of using a deadly means of harm.

Police are saying that the three boys on bicycles fired several shots at Kingsley Morrison and Kimberly Michael.

The shooters missed the targets completely, but  the bullets found their way into a house on Cumberbatch Street, where Desiree,  Aranda was  seated at er dinner table, having supper.

The shooting may have been provoked by a fit of jealousy aimed at Kimberly Michael.
