A teenager accused of having a sexual relationship with a foster child from a child care centre in the city, is on remand at the Belize Central Prison after he was denied bail for the offense of sexual assault.
He is 19 year-old Guillermo Silva, a farmer and resident of Antelope Street Extension, who was arraigned in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court before the Chief Magistrate, Anne Marie Smith.
In court, Silva who was unrepresented , faced a single charge of sexual intercourse with a 15 year-old girl.
Allegations being made by the minor in the presence of a Social Worker is that on Monday, October 19 2015, Silva who she refers to as her boyfriend, had sexual intercourse with her.
The incident was reported on Wednesday, October 28, 2015, when a Social Worker of Hattieville Village accompanied the girl to the police station, to report the incident. In that report, the girl recalled that Silva had sex with her in the afternoon between 1:00 and 4;00.
An investigation was carried out on the matter and the girl was examined by a doctor who confirmed that she was carnally known.
On Monday, November 2, 2015, Silva was detained and charged for the offense of unlawful sexual intercourse.
In court, no plea was taken from Silva and due to the nature of the offense; he was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until December 16, 2015.
