A father of two children is dead after he was fatally shot once to his face on Monday evening following a confrontation with another man in the La Croix Boulevard area of Belize City.

Just after 5:00 p.m., on October 1st, Dorian “Sonny” Sutherland, 31, was socializing with friends at the La Croix Boulevard car-wash when an argument reportedly ensued between him and another man.

The argument escalated quickly and the other man pulled out a gun and shot Sutherland once to his face at close range.

Sutherland then made an attempt to flee his attacker but collapsed a few feet away on Linda Vista Street where he died. He was later taken to the Belize City morgue by a responding police mobile.

Police have confirmed that investigators are currently seeking one suspect for the murder. The suspect remains at large.

Persons on the scene told the media that the argument between the victim and his attacker was over a quantity of marijuana.
