Hattieville police are searching for a man suspected of setting fire to a house and a vehicle in the Mahogany Heights village early Friday morning.

According to police, around 3:00 a.m. last Friday, a man dressed in full black was seen running away from the residence of Seronica Garbutt, who is presently out of the country.

A short time later, her 20Ă—20 feet bungalow house and her SUV, which was parked in front of the house, were seen engulfed in flames.

Although neighbors and fire personnel responded to the scene quickly, the house and all its contents, valued at $38,000, were completely destroyed by the fire.

The house was not insured and no one was at home at the time of the blaze.
