Belize Police have confirmed that the fatal shooting which occurred on Christmas Day in Boston Village was a suicide.
Police found 66 year-old American retiree, Timothy Patrick McNamara of Boston Village, on the veranda of his home around 8:10 in a pool of blood with a gunshot wound to the head.
Police interviewed Tracy Channon Nessl, a 43-year-old woman who lived with McNamara. She explained that she had been speaking with McNamara only moments before he took his own life.
Nessl explained that they had been in the kitchen talking over some financial difficulties, when McNamara left and went out on the veranda. Then she heard the sound of a shot.
Police recovered from the scene a 9 mm Glock pistol with a magazine containing six live rounds as well as one expended shell. The gun is licensed to Tracy Nessl. While the police have publicly written off the incident as a suicide, reports say that the quiet investigations continue.
