Belize City Police have charged Andy Alexander Forbes, 28, William Robert Vasquez, 28 and Clinton Tyrone Fitzgibbon Harris, 25, with the murder of Joseph “Chino” Myers, who was shot dead shortly before 7:00 last Friday evening, June 15.
Four men, two of whom were armed with handguns, had approached and opened fire on a group of eight people socializing on the front verandah of Living Hope Preparatory School on Maskall Street in Belize City. Myers died less than three hours later.
Elvis Olivera, 20, and Kenya Brown, 16, students; along with Fenton Maskall, 24, a security guard, were also wounded in the attack, so the three accused were also charged with attempted murder.They were arrested on Sunday, June 17.
Police press officer, Inspector Fitzroy Yearwood told reporters the shooting was gang related and that the rival groups are neighbours.
“We have stepped up our patrols and we have police officers presently canvassing that area.
“We are doing our best to resolve this situation,” Yearwood said.
