A San Pedro man who tried to evade Caye Caulker police is facing a charge of wounding after it is alleged that he stabbed a 17-year-old boy multiple times in Caye Caulker last Sunday.

The minor, of a Belize City address, reported to police that on Sunday, March 19 around 6:00 p.m., he was socializing at a bar in Caye Caulker when he got into a fight with 22-year-old Charles Robinson who inflicted a stab wound to his left shoulder, right hand and abrasions to the head and right hand.

Police say that when officers proceeded to detain Robinson, he attempted to escape the authorities by boarding a boat and sailing away from the island.

Authorities say that in an effort to avoid a collision with the boat they fired a single shot which caused damages to the boat engine, which is valued at $30,000.

The victim was reportedly rushed to a clinic on Pasero Strreet where he was treated and released for his injuries.

Investigations into the matter continue.
