17 year-old dies after allegedly colliding into parked vehicle

By Michelle Sutherland

A seventeen year old teenager of St. Matthews village succumbed to injuries he sustained after he was involved in a collision on the Franks Eddy village road this past weekend.

Police Investigations have since revealed that on Saturday March 11, at around 11:30 p.m., Eric Ibanez was traveling on his black Skygo motorcycle when he allegedly collided into an Isuzu pick-up truck, which was parked beside the road.

Ibanez’s family, however, disputes the reported details of his death and claim that he died due to the driver’s recklessness since he was not parked at the side of the road but was turning unto the road when the accident happened.

Due to the impact of the collision, Ibanez sustained severe head and body injuries and was transported to the Western Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police say that when cops arrived on the scene they observed the motorbike was extensively damaged and the pickup truck which had damages to the front portion.

There was no indication given by police whether the driver of the vehicle was charged.
