Taiwan’s Ambassador to Belize, H.E. Benjamin Ho, on bahalf of his government, has made a $400,000 donation to Special Envoy for Women and Children, Kim Simplis Barrow, for the community-based rehabilitation (CBR) program at the Inspiration Center.
The donation was presented during a ceremony on Tuesday at the Inspiration Center.
Mrs. Barrow received the donation and congratulated the Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) for its continued humanitarian work in Belize.
Through the CBR program and other services provided at the Inspiration Center, the needs of disabled children are recognized. They receive professional medical care, and physical and speech therapy through field officers in various districts of Belize.
For more than a year, the Center has been arduously working to meet the special demands posed by this field of work, providing rehabilitation services to more than 208 children with disabilities and special needs at its headquarters in Belize City.
The reach of the Center extends country-wide, providing home-based rehabilitation services to more than 220 clients across the country at little or no cost to the parents of these children. To respond to the plight of children with disabilities and their families, the Center decided to expand its CBR program to benefit families with in-home services, which comes at no cost.
