The Belize Social Investment Fund (BSIF), this week broke ground at the site for its latest project : to upgrade a rudimentary water system for Maskall Village, at a cost of nearly a million Belize dollars.
The government of Belize is financing the project through a loan from the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB).
The project will require construction of a 40,000 gallon water tank and a pump-house as well as the installation of distribution mains.
The Social Investment Fund has undertaken the project as part of its mandate i under GOB’s Poverty Alleviation Programme.
Minister of State Edmond Castro; Minister of Economic Development, Erwin Contreras and Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Hugo Pott were all present for the ground – breaking ceremony on Wednesday.
