Japanese Government donates over US$87,000.00 to Belmopan City Council

The Belmopan City Council, on Monday, received grant funding worth US $87,539 from the government of Japan to assist in their purchase of a new garbage compactor truck.

The Council says that in recognizing their role in the collection of garbage within the city and surrounding communities they had applied for the much needed finances through the Grassroots and Human Security Program from the Embassy of Japan who facilitated their request.

The signing ceremony was hosted at the Belmopan Hotel Conference room where signing on behalf of the Council was Deputy Mayor of Belmopan Ralston Frazer.

While Counsellor Shinichi Yamanaka signed on behalf of the Japanese Government.

The grant is expected to assist in the Council’s ongoing efforts to keep Belmopan and surrounding areas clean.
