Charitable trust gives $350,000 for low-interest student loans

The Belize Natural Energy Charitable Trust (BNECT), this week, signed an agreement committing $350,000 to provide low-interest loans for students from the Belize and Cayo districts.

BNECT signed the agreement with the Beize Enterprise for Sustainable Technology (BEST) in order to expand the Trust’s student loan program to give aid to the under-served areas of the Belize and Cayo districts.

The initial investment will be made available to BEST in two tranches of $175,000.
The objective of the partnership is to create a revolving fund to provide loans for Belizean students attending or planning to attend secondary or tertiary level institutions or vocational designations accredited by the Ministry of Education.
According to BNECT, the collaboration is a joint effort to empower and uplift Belizeans to become conscious architects of their own future.
