Today July 27th, 2018 Supreme Court Judge Colin Williams in Belize City ruled that three men – Orel Leslie, Brandon Baptist and Tyrone Meighan were not guilty of the 2012 murder of ex-Belize Defence Force soldier James Noralez.

In the session which lasted a little over two hours and fifteen minutes, Judge Williams questioned the credibility of statements given by the the prosecution’s main witness as well as the altering of statements by investigating officers and signs of evidence tampering.

Leslie and Meighan who are currently out on Supreme Court bail granted to them in March of this year both left the courtroom free men. Baptist however was remanded while he awaits trial for another murder case.

Following the Judgement Baptist would not offer any comment to the press except to say “who jah bless no man curse”

Meighan on the other hand recounted his road to victory , “God is good, six years of this experience is very very serious, You know fighting for your life on the line is no play.I was nervous a bit but I kept my confidence in my lawyer.”

The trio were acquitted of the murder in 2015, however in 2017 the Director of Public Prosecution appealed the decision and the Court ordered a retrial.

On November 26th 2012, Noralez’s bullet riddled body was discovered at the corner of Faber’s Road and the George Price Highway.
