Police have confirmed that a man was shot Friday evening on St Joseph Street in Belize City.

Initially, it was not clear if Nyerere Parchue, 23, wad shot, but a CT scan has revealed that the messenger for Pitts Law Firm suffered a gun shot wound to the head and that the bullet is lodged in the front portion of his cranium.

The resident of Sittee St is lucky enough to survive the attack and be able to talk about it. He told Police that he was riding his bicycle on St Thomas St around 4:30pm when a man wearing a red and black hat rode up besode him in front of the YWCA building and demanded a folder which he had that contained birth certificate documents.

He said
the man pointed a revolver at him and he handed over the folder, and assailant rode off in the opposite direction.

Parchue said he set chase after the attacker and caught up with him near the gate for the nursing school building on St Joseph St. but the man pointed the gun at him again and shot him in the head.

Police were not sure at first if Parchue was shot because initial information reaching them was that Parchue merely collapsed and hit his head on the pavement when the gun was pointed at him.

Police have not made any arrests as yet.
